Lack of x-mas surprises :(

I was very disappointed with the absolute lack of christmas-specials in AoC. Sure, christmas might not fit into the AoC-RP, but FC could still please the community by implementing some nifty drops or have more serverwide events. The only thing done afaik is some stupid goat hunt.

For you Azlea

Dear Azlea,

You are the worst player on the server, as voted by 10% of the community. I admire your try to mock me for my IRL picture here on the blog:

I really AM hated!

So i was told that The Empire doesn't hate me at all, that they doesn't care about me (read: ignore) more than any other person/guild on their KoS-list.

Is that why seemingly everyone of them are targetting and killing me, especially in the duelgrounds, with 3 vs. 1 people? Is that why i am jumped by 5 people in stealth, trapped and killed over and over again? It seems like i am more hated than ever, by the Empire!

I mean, come on guys. Does it really require 3 or more of you to kill me?

This must be celibrated of course, as it is a great achievement for me.

Grats Celestial on the T1 keep!

After a somewhat rough start in yesterdays siege, Condemned, Band of the Grey Clover and Nova Krepusko burned down the russian battlekeep!

Short after this capitalist victory, Celestial sent out a recruitment ad:

Best chatlog contest!

Nominations for yet another vote has started! This time, the vote is for the best chatlog between you and some random idiot on the server!

Most of us has probably encountered several noobs on the way to level 80 (where these types of people seem to flourish), especially in Field of the Dead where the gankfest never ends. I remember a few months ago where i got someone banned for racial slurs.

It's those types of discussions that you should be nominating, if you can catch it through a picture it's a big plus. Otherwise, just write it down as thoroughly as you can here. Nominations lasts until saturday where the voting starts.

Winning contribution recieves a 1 on 1 date with Kruella!

I want!

Christmas is the holiday of consumtion! You buy stuff and give it to your friend, and then you get an equally worthless present in return! On top of that you eat too much food and drink way too little alcohol.

Anyway, i want alot for christmas. I want Funcom to implement some new raid content. I want my epic staff dammit! I want to kill Ahazy-Zagam. I want to buy a fancy horse. I want PvP level 4. I want to go over 100 kills in a minigame. I want to kill Lektor.

Azlea won servers' worst!

Grats Azlea, idiot ranger from C.L.A.N, on winning the "servers worst player"-award!

Run off and tell the guards!

I am hated!

Appearently i am very hated by Argonauts! This is of course good news, as Argonauts are members of The Empire which i really don't like at all (except for some Celestial's which i have developed a love-hate relationship to, as seen on this blog).

The reason for this is, according to Estranged the Assassin, that i am cowardly targetting people from the duelarea, and killing them from that spot repeatidly.

First of all, i admit that i have shot people when i have been standing in the duel area. Yes, i did (OMFG)!
I will though remind you of that i was the one starting a huge debate about this duel area on the official forums, where i stated numerous times that i hated it, and that i think it's pathetic that people use it as an excuse for hiding from the real PvP. Note that this was a debate, not actual way of playing. I wanted to hear what people thought about it, and give my opinion.

On the same night i composed that thread, i logged in and the instant i entered the duel area i got killed by Argonauts. Their reason was:

A. You were war-mongering on the forums!
B. Your guildmate Pyroset killed us (on the same very day) in the duel area!

I never whined in tells about this, i never complained on the forums. I welcomed this, as i still believe that the duel area i pure bullshit.

Later on (some week after) i got killed by C.L.A.N, Royal Elite Killers and Argonauts WHEN i was actually duelling (at half-health, almmost dead or whatever). Even though im no fan of the duelling area, i think it's common decensy not to attack anyone while he/she is duelling.

The retribution was swift and fast, i killed the people who had done so to me, and also some other stragglers from the Empire unlucky enough to close in to the duelarea. Then i got approached by several people saying that it wasn't THEM who had attacked me, but someone else from their guild/alliance. I paid back in the same way i was killed repeaditly when i started the thread on the official forums.

The difference from me and from people of this Empire (especially Estranged) is that i don't go on and whine about bullshit as soon as someone kille me when im not ready. My advice to you is to grow up and grow a beard.

Oh yeah! I was also informed by someone, that there has been several picrutres of Kruella exploiting, floating around on the forums. I have spent hours of trying to find these pictures, which also (i was told) has been sent to Funcom. I have yet to see any pictures, nor hearing anything from Funcom. Please send them to kruellaofaoc@gmail.com if you have access to them, and i will post them in supersize here on this blog.

Meh, i wanna kill Ahazu-Zagam

So Relict with their PuG managed to kill Ahazu-Zagam while the NK+Condemned coalition (with supervision of ex-SCUM Maclisa who suppose to know the strategy) has failed epiclly four times now, i think.

We have done exactly what we are supposed to and we have had really good tanks. We have also managed to sort the adds and the kiting path very good as of late, yet we fail! It's really, really annoying when you get him down to 20% after 4 tries, and then the instance resets without GM:s doing anything about it.

Anyway, grats to Relict! *gives the envious evil-eye*

Back in the days...

... everything was better. Cellphones were large enough not to be lost in your pockets, McDonald's had a limited meny to chose from and there wasn't any stupid blogs where idiots could write about silly stuff like MMORPG-games.

Well maybe everything wasn't better back in the days, it's only worse now ^^.

I remember the first MMORPG i played; Everquest. It's still the best MMO-game i have ever played, mostly because it really could consume every single minute of your life if you would only let it. There was so much to do in that game, hence you had all incentive in the world of playing it.

I remember how excited i was every time i got into the Frenzy-camp in Lower Guk, sitting there waiting for this rare Ghoul to spawn who could drop the rare Flowing Black Silk Sash. Even though i couldn't use it for my Shaman, i could sell it for an obscene amount of gold (the system without BoA actually didn't disrupt the EQ economy).

The raids were also very challenging. Any MMO-veteran has to remember the crawls through Temple of Veeshan and all the loot from that place.

Ah yes, the loot. The loot in the early MMO's were bloody awsome, what i liked most about if were the actual effects of the loot. A staff with an inbuilt shrink spell, a cloak with haste on it which really made a world of difference in both PvP and PvE (Yes, EQ1 had PvP, remember the Arena in Nexus?^^). Also, much of the loot had nice graphical effects to it; a burning sword, a staff with a blue-ish shimmer and so on.

In my opinion, AoC lacks some of the magic that EQ had (and probably WoW too, even though i didn't play it much).

Oh yeah, here's some american guy really embodying what Everquest was about:

Vote on servers worst player!

To the right, you can vote on the worst player on the server, as nominated by the readers of this blog. Some have nominated anonymous, some with their own name (scroll down to see). "Worst" doesn't reflect the persons PvP-skills, it reflects the characters playstyle,

How to PVP as a Necromancer

I have been told to write more about the game instead of the ingame drama, which has turned me into an attention-seeking 12-year old troll. Now i could say that if you want to read about the game, go to the forums, but as i really don't want to lose my 3-4 readers i have to do some crowd-pleasing :). So i thought i would compose a few tips for my fellow Necromancers, when it comes to PvP. Hopefully, other classes might appreciate this as well, as you can see our weaknessess might be exposed!

This post entails 1 vs 1 only, not minigames or other mass-PvP. This information is also only about Nightfall, as i think Reanimation sucks as it is now.

First of all, here is my build:

http://www.conanarmory.com/feat.aspx?id=9#::cf30ebe2fef2efaf2efdef2e2fe2fefe3f2ef2ef2ebf3e2f:

Preparing:
Before you start challenging people, make sure you have your most important spells bound to your keys. A "clicking" necro will die very fast, trust me. You will want to bind the following:

Mark of the Devourer, Gelid Bones, Pesential (sp?) Blast, Worms to Flesh, Lifestrike, Unimaginable Terror, Deaths Terror, Grip of Death, Purge, Decay, Blasphemous Ruin, Ritual of the Lich, Spellweave and health pots.

You will also need to stack up with some Daggamalt (or better) as well as some 4 hour food, which increases your health some (it saves you from the ToS-one shot)

Hint: Start out light:
In the beginning you shouldn't try to duel our bane-classes Assassin and Barbarian as they might ruin all your motivation :). Try on some DT:s and some Rangers, as they die with ease.

What spells to use:
Every class you face have their own advantages and disadvantages, and i wont go through every class here. But in generalm this is what i use (and often get away with it):

1. Summon a Life-Stealer to have at your side in every duel.
2. Freeze
3. Frenzy your pet (it will slow your target)
4. Mark of the Devourer
5. Gelid Bones
6. Ice Shackle
7. Life Strike
8. Flesh to Worms
9. Grip of Death
10. Enter Spellweave

Now, depending on your target, i would say that you can kill most cloth-wearers without using GoD. Anothet thing which is CRUICAL is to RUN RUN RUN! I usually run away after point 5, and using a pot when i do it. Your target will then try to catch up, failing to do that as he is slowed. You can also use the environment to get out of Line of Sight.

Running is especially important when you face CC-classes such as Assassin and Barbarian. If you let an assa or barb get close to you, you are dead. When facing an Assa, run until his Avatar of Death has faded, and eventually try to Freeze him. Once frozen, he is dead meat.

Practise makes perfect
In the beginning you will die in most of your fights, but as you fight more and more you will become better. Don't let losses get you down.

Worst players on Aquilonia!

Alright, so there's a thread on the official forums covering the best of each class on this server, judged from performance in duels mainly. As there are major class imbalances and as duels are more of a rock-scissor-bag fight, these lists can be questioned.

There hasn't however, been a list over the worst players on the server, and it's my intention with this post to find out the top 5 worst players. This is NOT going to be based on PvP-performance, but on playstyle in general. It's up to the readers of this blog to decide and nominate. Post a comment in this post with your nominee and a motivation. Note that i will post ANY NOMINEE as long as the motivation is well written. Nominate me if you feel like it :).

I will start:

Azlea, 80 Ranger, C.L.A.N
Azlea is a retard, mostly for his cowardly playstyle as he shoots you from stealth, and when you turn on him to counter his attacks, he runs off to the guards. This happens every time i face him, even when he and his fellow guildies are outnumbering the rest of us in Keshetta. Another thing he has started with latley, is standing by the guards ang shooting criminals. Big douche indeed.

Beton 80 Guard [Fatality](i believe)
Stands in front of the guards to. Only he charges any easy kills (10% health, fighting mobs, talking to npc, dueling etc), does a few white swings and runs back to the if he can't win..
Provided by Anonymous

Nasher (Nesher?), 80 Ranger, Agronaut
Nasher has pretty same playing style as Azlea, but fails quite often when he tries run to the guards. Also /tells like "Go F-word your dead mothers organ" are his strong points (but I think someone has reported him because haven't got them lately). It is common to spot him places which are counted as "exploiting" like roofs at Kesh city. In GEM era his favorite spot was on the rock above Oasis resspad and shooting down people who was just ressed.
Provided by Galadh

Flathe

But my nomine right now is Flathe. Oh my f*cking lord is this ranger pathetic! He has absolutely no control over his CC, he pops everything right away, meaning he wastes all his CC right away. He stands at the dueling-area in Kheshatta behind his friends, shooting at people he don't like. Easy XP for him I guess. But worst of all; he keeps whining over his DPS, most likely becuase he fails at killing anyhting.
Provided by Anonymous2

Otso 80lvl Ranger (Relict)

I have neve seen him in the oasis, he ONLY attacks when you are fighting somebody else and already lost 50% of his health.
Provided by Anonymous3

Larsarus
you should vote for lasarsus and not maggy.Maggy is by far one of the greatest in pvp i have seen.

Sweden - Russia: 0 -2 :(

Empowered by vodka and with KGB-tactics Russian Celestial managed to burn down Condemned battlekeep yesterday.

What should have been a glorious victory, became a day of defeat for Nova Krepusko, Condemned and Band of the Gray Clover who tried to fence off the evil forces of The Empire.

Since i didn't take part in this myself (i was out drinking Smirnoff and hitting on russian ice-skating tennisplayers) i can't really say what went wrong, but they won and that's that. I would assume that the russians were playing from their bootcamp out in the Siberian tundra, where wins are awarded with vodka and losses are punished swedish vodka. So driven by that, it's not strange they won, eh.

Anyway, here's another episode of Celestial's high scool documentary Kreml High. In this episode, we see how Russia amazingly enough scores against Sweden in the 94' Euro (i think it was). "Salenko has once again humiliated the great satan from the West" is my favorite line.

Kill 'em and steal their borstj! A drum drum!

Tonight Nova Krepusko will help our friends in Condemned to defend their Battle Keep from the Celestial kosack-dancers. This is the first time NK gets to kill Celestial properly since they burned down our more or less undefended BK, and i really hope for a good, proper fight.

I can't join this onslaught myself as i will shower in Smirnoff all night long. Hope our other necros will obliterate the russians using GoD with Spellweaving.

In GoD we trust!

Oh yea, you all probably know that Mother Russia kept their national anthem when they switched from Soviet to Russia. I found the translation of the lyrics, i dont know if they changed or not:

PR and AoC

My day to day job is as a PR-consultant, and according to the latest news in AoC Aquilonia will merge with Corinthia. This means that there will be alot of new, swedish players seeking a guild to join, and Nova Krepusko is the most viable choice as we are one of the largest swedish guilds in the game (if not the largest).

So right now we are discussing a PR-strategy to broaden our brand and recruit more people. It's gonna be fun to apply my proffesional knowledge into this game, although im sure it's gonna be very tricky :).

The nerf is imminent

So after i have been duelling through saturday and sunday, lots of people have been whining about how OP the necro is. This isn't right at all, im winning about 50% of my duels and i consider myself to be a good dueller. So how are we OP? The OP thing about necros is the fact that we go into 100% crit chance immidietly in spellweave. This of course raises the question how Funcom will nerf us, cause im sure they will :).

A good thing would be if they nerfed the Spellweaving for the necros. Right now, we can get Death God (100% crit chance) immidietly, which makes Grip of Death extremly OP, as it sometimes hits for 1800 pet tick. GoD without Spellweave isn't more OP than Demo's equivalent.

However, knowing Funcom i think they will nerf the necros in more ways. Perhaps an overall damagereduction of our entire spell-line? Time will tell of course, but i will be really pissed if they make this class unplayable (again).

A weekend without AoC?

Currently i can't make up my mind on what to do this weekend! On the one hand, my back hurts like hell, i don't really have alot of money to spend due to alot of bills and spoiled nephiews who want's x-mas gifts, on the other hand i was sitting home last weekend and did absolutley nothing (except for AoC of course). Not AoC-related

This is not AoC-related, i know, but it's my latest project at work!

Minigames are fun

So i might suck in 1 vs 1, but im pretty good in minigames...

Need practise!

I'm not so good in 1 vs. 1 PvP as i recently thought. Efter a few 1 on 1:s in Keshetta (which im still opposed to!) i got my ass kicked so many times i left. Wierd thing is that i have started losing just recently, a few weeks back i stood my ground really well.

I guess i have to duel even more, and thereby defend myself verbally from standing in the duelgrounds looking at people, drinking tea and being lame.

From Russia with love!

On monday russian guild Celestial burned Nova Krepusko's keep to the ground. The "battle" took place at 9 am in the morning, a time of the day when most of the troops from NK are at work. Celestial brought 18 people where NK could defend with 6. What an epic battle it must have been! Surley something to brag about on the forums, eh?

So am i bitter? Not really. After all, NK burned down an empty SCUM-keep, and it's our own fault that we put up the time 9 am (which in fact was a mistake, our leader which was the one responsible for signing for/against keeps recently quit).

The Celestial keep will burn soon enough.

So who are Celestial really? I got ahold of a clip from Celestials high-school in Kreml:

Protect my balls!

Last night NK and Condamned ventured into Black Ring Citadel again, and again it was Wing 1. Excorant went down in the first try (!) which is a great success for us.

After that it was time for Yarekma. For the people who doesn't know, in the Yarekma fight you have to have four people which are to press a couple of globes at the same time, in order for Yarekma to calm down and do less damage. These globes are also known as balls. Imagine all the penis-related jokes you can derive from this fight:

When Yarekma enrages, he grows big (literally). In order to calm him down you have to rub the balls. You have to be quite experienced to rub these balls, cause it won't work with virgins (that hasn't done the fight before).

If this wasn't enough, between these balls there's a huge, penis-looking statue.

Speaking of balls, watch this:

Politics!

In my previous MMO's ingame politics hasn't really been an issue that has affected the general gameplay. Perhaps because many of those MMO's didn't have the element of PvP as AoC has, perhaps because those MMO's had a much younger target audience than AoC has.

Anyways, right now there's so much political bullshit on Aquilonia it's really starting to influence the general gaming experience in a bad, yet interesting, way.

The bad way is that you can't kill the people want to without hearing tons of whines about it. On a more interesting note, the current political situation can be used as a tool to lie and decieve, to create illusions and to create confusion. This is quite effective to piss people off beyond belief. Its extra-special fun when you can read about it on the forums the day after, where everyone is arguing their own and their guilds cause.

These stupid forum argument, it's a class of their own really. I read a survey somewhere stating that most of the internet arguments taking place on a forum, especially when it comes to MMO-games, always tend to relate to the second world war and the nazi-regime.

We all know, however, that:

To defy an Empire

So i haven't been too active in my blog for the last few days. This is most due to the fact that i have been lazy, not that nothing has happened - cause stuff really has happened ;)

* I have been called a fucking idiot on the official forums
* I have been called a fucking idiot in game
* Nova Krepusko has been prophetized to become the new SCUM
* I have seen this so called Emipre suck horribly at PvP
* I have been the target of the worst gankfest since Larsarus roamed in Conall's valley

Why?

Because me and some of my guildmates started an opinion against the so called the dueling grounds of Keshetta. Funny thing really, i was bored to hell and wanted to hear opinions from all guilds about the dueling that goes on in Keshetta, the duels that in my opinion is ruining the little open-world PvP we have left.

An hour or so after i started this debate, i was accused for war-mongering and aggresive behavior towards all guilds and players on the server. And i hadn't even logged into the game. It's amusing how some people (Lektor, Deranja and Nakhorthed in particular) are fast in leaping lightyears into cunclusions...

Anyway, it seemed as my opinions was well heard from alot of other people, as these dueling grounds now are non-existant, to that extent, that if i or any other NK are about in the duel ground, we get killed. Vice-versa goes for a anyone unlucky enough to be at that place, and be a member of this ridiculous Empire.

Wanna read more? Check this out.

I am soon to return with some funny fraps of The Empire sucking at group PvP, stay posted!

SCUM are leaving...

Time for some server-gossip!

Aquilonia's "best" guild are going to take a break. Around 80% of their players (around 100 people?) are said to go on a hiatus until the game becomes better.

At first people were whining about SCUM being assholes, now people are whining about them leaving and thereby killing the server. Some say the server (and it may be applied to any server or MMO) needs some real bad guys for some real drama. Fair enough.

But in a personal opinion; SCUM were never the really bad guys. They were simply just annoying, a pesky bunch irritating you when you were grinding. They were however really good at PvP and probably PvE as well, but they were hardly as bad as they wanted to seem.

Knowing now how some SCUM operates, i doubt they are leaving because this game has become boring, unchallenging and monotone (if they are leaving at all, perhaps it's just another desperate attempt at more e-fame). Perhaps they have gotten into some beta with the whole guild, perhaps the lot of them got rolled-back and lost their PvP-gear.

Anyhow, the server is far from dead with SCUM gone. SCUM never played a major part in the Keshetta PvP, the so called Empire dominated (and still are) with the power of zerg and the fuck-i-suck-ass-in-PvP gamestyle.

Question is, what guild will take SCUM's place as the wannabe bad-boy of the server?

Exploiters punished!

Alot happens when you decide to take a few days off!

As you should all be aware we recently took action against those players that took advantage of a flaw in the PvP XP System.

We understand that many of you have questions about how this was done, and of course some of those affected have questions about why they were targeted.

Although we are unable to go into specific detail about the process, what we can say is that we used information gathered from our Database to identify those players that gained what was considered a "substantial" amount of PvP XP during the time frame where such a thing was possible. These cases we then investigated further. We have then taken what we consider to be appropriate action against those players by reducing their PvP Levels to what they were before it was possible to take advantage of this flaw and removing all PvP Gear.

Some of you might feel that you were unfairly targeted; if you are one of them then we simply ask that you write a mail to support@ageofconan.com with the name of the character that was affected and the server name on which it plays so that our Customer Support staff can begin our investigation into the matter. As always, you should receive your response within 24 hours. Should our staff find a flaw in the system we will take appropriate measures to ensure that your character will be restored to the former status."

So the exploiters have now been dealt with. However rumor tells me that alot of exploiters still slipped through Funcom's targeting program. I will investigate this further, when i log on tomorrow.

What should we do about the Aquilonian exploiters?

Since GM's won't do anything about the exploiters of this server, it's up to the playerbase to take the matter in their own hands.

So what could be done about this? Well, one way is to lock them out of PvP by simply not duelling them, or leave minigames when you face a bunch of exploiters (like plagued rats the travel in packs).

But in order for the playerbase to do anything, it must be made official who these individuals are. Should i post pictures of the exploiters? What would i achieve by doing so? Drama and flamewars? Is it against my morale? Would i be banned from the official forums?

Lots of questions...

EDIT: Just got a word from official forum head mod:

"Hi there

We can not moderate *external* sites so as long as you keep things on your blog it should be ok however just remember not to be respectful to players you name on your blog, if you can, thanks for that.

Regards

Tahi"

Remember NOT to be respectful to players you name on your blog... That's funny, even for a typo.

Excorant the Gargoyle Master dead!

As my guild is progressing violently through the game, we have recently started raiding T2 on a more regular basis. It's more challenging than T1 of course, but it's also a whole other dimension of the game, which in my opinion more resembles the Conan lore. Perhaps this is much due to the fact that Black Ring Citadel (T2) is located in Stygia, and most i remember of the books/movies was events evolving around the Stygian snake-sects.

Toth-Amon (which also resides in T2) was James Earl Jones' best role after Darth Vader.

So, the trashmobs wasn't much tougher than the ones in the Kylikki instance, they were however not as kind with the Epic-loot as the Kylikki-trash usually are.

The bossfight was fun and weird. While the boss is being off-tanked, adds spawns in couples (times 3) throughout the fight. These adds (Gargoyles) has to go down fast in order to not end up with too many of them to handle. While the adds are fought Excorant runs around throwing sand at people (it's lame i know) which results in a 15 minutes stun (which is even more lame). You can remedy this stun with a quest-spell you get inside the instance, though.

Took us 3 tries before he fell:

And the loot:

If you can't see it's a demo-belt (grats Pyroset) and Necro gloves (grats ME!!!)

Courtsey to SCUM

Hats off to our servers best PvP-guild SCUM who up to date is the only guild which Nova Krepusko hasn't been able to beat in a minigame. They wiped the floor with us twice yesterday, second time leaving us all with zero kills and tons of deaths. Even though they have a fuck-all playstyle, the lot of them are actually quite nice...

Here's their recruitment video, which is one of the best i've seen yet...

Kylikki... what a joke.

Yesterday Nova Krepusko plowed through the Kylikki instance in one of the fastest Kylikki raids i have parted in, since i started this game.

Trashmobs went down quicker than a C.L.A.N-member in a minigame and no curse in Hyboria could save the Champion.

And then there was Kylikki, who seemingly has suffered a major nerf from Funcom. She is much weaker, her minions doesn't heal for as much and the wolf-adds was surprisingly easy to control. Kylikki was dead after four Spellguard-spawns, which is a record for Nova Krepusko.

A big congrats to our tanks (Stick and Muren i think) who got one guardian chestplate each!

Tonight we set our aim for T2, which hopefully proves to be more of a challenge.

Funcom ruins it again

They have done it before, they just did it again and they will probably keep on doing it.

I'm talking about Age of Conan's creators Funcom who as of late has once again ruined the gaming experience for the lot of the playerbase. As the PvP-exp murderer system was introduced, alot of bugs came with it (as usual with Funcom).

The most fatal bug so far was the one where people could exploit the PvP-exp system by taking turns in killing each other. I got aware of this yesterday, and the result has been a massive increase in PvP-exp for anyone lame enough to use an exploit(which this admittedly is, thanks Wiesel). Now we have tons of people running around in new, fancy PvP-gear, probably bought with gold they got off some goldfarmer site.

So here we have what the devs has acknowledged as an exploit. In today's patch it was eliminated, but the exploiters still remain full of undeserved exp points. There are rumors of a roll-back, but they are rumors and will probably remain rumors.

Something has to be done. If Funcom doesn't do anything, it's up to the playerbase. Burn them all.

Blog is now active

With this blog i intend to cover the every day life of a myself, Kruella, in Age of Conan. I am a Necromancer level 80, playing on Aquilonia. I am a part of the Swedish guild Nova Krepusko, which of course makes me a Swede.

Will start posting more as soon as i have finished the layout for the blog.
